Talking about good design
There’s a problem with talking about design: everyone has said everything before. Fortunately, the good stuff speaks volumes for itself about companies, the worth of their people, their products, their green or ethical credentials, their packaging and their quality standards. The 2009 Marketing Design Awards winners were evidence of that, providing singling out examples of irrefutable excellence across the broad scope of brand marketing.Marketing
Marketing is acutely aware of changes in the market place, in consumer attitudes, in product positioning and propositions. Design is a keenly-edged tool to assist in the marketing tasks of securing share of voice, share of market, and, ultimately, a rightful share of profits. There are extraordinary talents at work in UK design and the Marketing Design Awards celebrate those talents. The celebration continues to be very specific, though. Rewards will go to those design and brand marketing agencies, consultancies and practices and in-house design teams that ease the plight of challenged marketers seeking to keep their brands leading and evolving to match consumer expectations and demand.
Entering awards that are independent, objective and fair is an inexpensive and effective way of securing promotion and peer recognition for your teams’ abilities. I would urge you to seriously consider, therefore, the work your teams have been originating or completing over the last eighteen months, because the call for entries for the 2010 Awards has begun.
Once again, the celebration of the Marketing Design Awards winners will take place at a lunchtime event on November 3, 2010 at Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London. No black tie. No overnight costs. Just pure celebration of exceptional talents and exceptional design work with a marketing purpose. That celebration will continue on the Marketing website long after the Awards because we will host an online gallery of the winning work for designers and clients to enjoy.
Good luck with your entries and I look forward to seeing you on November 3.
